Copyright issues: what you need to know
Copyright refers to the intellectual property rights that protect a musical work. When a song is used in content (music video, post, story, advertisement, etc.), its use must be authorized by the rights holder, often the distributor or record label.
To do this, simply “whitelist” the account(s) (Instagram, TikTok, etc.) with these parties.
Why might your campaigns be blocked?
When you launch a campaign on an existing post that contains the artist's music, advertising platforms, mainly Meta (Facebook/Instagram), may block its distribution.
The reason: the artist's Instagram (or TikTok) account has not been whitelisted (officially authorized) by the distributor.
How can this problem be avoided?
Before launching a campaign, make sure that the artist's Instagram or TikTok account has been whitelisted by the distributor.
→ Without whitelisting, the ad may be automatically blocked.
→ If the account is whitelisted but the block persists, launch the campaign as a Ghost post.
What to do if your campaign is stopped due to copyright issues?
If your campaign is rejected due to a copyright issue:
- Cancel your campaign on the Ctrl+Reach app.
- Contact the artist's distributor to request whitelisting of the account concerned.
- Once this has been done, relaunch the campaign from Ctrl+Reach.
TIPS : Remember to anticipate whitelisting before launching a major campaign to avoid any interruptions in distribution.
