What happens when a user unsubscribes?
When a user unsubscribes, here's what happens:
1. Removal of communication authorizations
- The user no longer receives any communication related to campaigns or newsletters associated with the opt-in they had previously accepted.
- His status is automatically updated in the database to indicate that he has no longer given his consent.
2. Update in Ctrl+Reach
- On Ctrl+Reach, the unsubscribed user is removed from exportable audiences linked to opt-in communications.
- You can check this change by consulting the “See only opt-in communications” option in the Mail tab.
3. Synchronization with your CRM
- If you manually export your data for integration into a CRM, you'll need to update your database regularly by downloading a new CSV file from Ctrl+Reach. This ensures that unsubscriptions are taken into account in future campaigns.
NOTE: Respecting unsubscribes is a legal obligation (RGPD, CCPA, etc.). Using the addresses of unsubscribed users could result in sanctions.
