Glossary

Global Ctrl+Reach

 

Campaign

An advertising initiative launched to promote a news item/product. Campaigns can be configured on different platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Youtube or Tiktok.

 

Smartlink

A personalized link that redirects users to multiple music streaming platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) or sites based on their preferences, facilitating the promotion of tracks, albums, events or merch.

 

Targeting

The definition of the demographic, geographic and behavioral criteria of the users you wish to reach with a campaign, such as age, gender, location and interests. ( audience )

 

Budget

The amount allocated to a campaign. It can be defined for a specific period, with a minimum of €10 per day, per country and per platform.

 

Feature

A new feature or specific option available on the Ctrl+Reach platform

Meta

Formerly Facebook, Meta brings together several platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp, and allows you to manage your various accounts on a single interface

 

Business Manager

A Meta tool that lets you manage advertising accounts, audiences, business pages, pixels... and above all user roles to better control access and data.

 

Pixel

A few lines of code placed on a web page to track users' actions after clicking on an ad. Used to measure conversions and optimize campaigns.

 

Ads Manager

A tool provided by platforms such as Meta (Facebook and Instagram) or TikTok, which lets you configure, manage and analyze the performance of advertising campaigns.

 

Login (Meta)

The action of connecting your Meta account (Facebook and Instagram) to Ctrl+Reach. This includes linking a Facebook page, Instagram account and Meta Pixel for performance tracking.

 

Log in

Log in to your Ctrl+Reach account via the app. This login gives you access to all features.

 



Set up campaign

 

Campaign objective

The main goal of an advertising campaign, which determines the type of action you want to encourage. The main objectives available are :

  1. Interactions & Awareness: Increase views, likes, shares or followers.
  2. Audience Growth: Get more subscribers or visits to your profile.
  3. Listeners & Save: Generate streams or pre-saves on streaming platforms like Spotify.
  4. Sales & Others: Generate sales or redirect to an external link.

 

InStream / Pre-roll

Video advertising that appears before video content on YouTube.

 

InFeed 

An InFeed ad is an advertising format that appears directly in the recommendation feed of a platform (such as Instagram, Facebook or TikTok). This type of ad integrates naturally with the user's other video recommendations.

 

Audience

An audience represents the group of people targeted by an advertising campaign according to specific criteria such as their interests, behavior or demographic data. At Ctrl+Reach, audiences come in three main types:

  1. Fan Base (Fans and Lookalike)
    • Fans : These are users who have already interacted with your content, listened to your music, or visited your pages.
    • Lookalike : A similar audience created from your existing fan base to reach users with similar characteristics.
  1. Audience Library (Ctrl+Reach base)
    • This audience is built from Ctrl+Reach's internal database.
  1. Custom (Meta base)
    • A personalized audience that you create by defining criteria via Meta Business Manager, such as age, gender, interests.

 

Meta interest

Targeting criteria based on users' interests and behavior on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram) to optimize the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. The interests available for a campaign (Instagram or Facebook) are the same on Ctrl+Reach as on Meta.

 



Socials

 

Dark Post / GhostPost

A sponsored post that is not displayed publicly on the profile or page, but is visible only to the audience targeted by the advertising campaign.

 

Cross post

The publication of the same content on several different platforms or accounts (for example, on Facebook and Instagram) simultaneously.

 

Spark Ads (TikTok)

An advertising format unique to TikTok that enables existing organic content published by a creator or brand to be promoted directly from their account.

 

Feed

A feed is the sequence of publications on your account.

 

Asset

The assets for a post on social networks are the visuals (images/videos), the text (caption), the redirect link, the call to action, and the tags or hashtags.

 

Collaborative post

A post created with the “Collaboration” feature of Instagram or other social networks. It appears on the profile of both accounts involved, but may not always be sponsored if the post's origin is not your own account.

 

Spark Code (TikTok)

A unique code generated to promote existing content on TikTok. This code is used to authorize the sponsorship of content published by another user or creator.




 

Campaign result

 

Conversion

An action we want the user to perform after seeing an ad, such as a purchase, a click, a registration, or any other significant action.

 

CTR (Click-Through Rate)

The click-through rate, which measures the effectiveness of a campaign by dividing the number of clicks by the number of impressions. It is used to determine engagement with advertising.

 

KPI (Key Performance Indicator)

A key performance indicator, used to measure the success of a campaign in relation to objectives (e.g. number of clicks, sales, impressions, etc.).

 

Call to Action (CTA)

A clear, concise invitation to the user to perform a specific action, such as “Buy Now”, “Listen Here” or “Learn More”. CTAs are often placed on ads or Smartlinks to maximize conversions.

 

Re-targeting

An advertising strategy that involves targeting users who have already interacted with your content or visited your site, in order to encourage them to perform a specific action (such as a purchase or registration).

 

A/B Testing

Testing different versions of a campaign to see which version performs best, by testing elements such as text, visuals or targeting.

 

Popularity Index

The Popularity Index is an indicator that measures an artist's popularity on Spotify. This tool only works if the artist has connected their Spotify page to Ctrl+Reach. It focuses exclusively on the performance of singles, using data such as listens, additions to playlists and overall engagement on the platform.

This index is useful for tracking a single's progress, identifying the best-performing tracks and adapting promotion strategies accordingly.

 

Campaign status

Campaign status refers to the progress or current status of an advertising campaign on Ctrl+Reach. It allows you to track where the campaign is in its lifecycle, from creation to completion. Here are the different states of a campaign:

  • Draft: Campaign under configuration.
  • Scheduled: Campaign set up at a specific date and time
  • Pending: Campaign submitted to advertising platforms for approval
  • Rejected:Campaign reject by advertising platforms
  • Ongoing: Campaign active and distributed to the audience.
  • Ending: Campaign reached its scheduled end date, C+R team have to make sure it's all good
  • Finished: Campaign reached its scheduled end date.
  • Stopped: Campaign prematurely stopped by the Ctrl+Reach algorithm.
  • Refund: Campaign stopped by the user.
  • Archived: Campaign archived by the user.

 

Interactions & Awareness

Impressions: Number of times an ad or post has been seen.

Reach: Number of unique individuals who have seen the content.

Engagement: Interactions such as likes, shares, comments or clicks.

Engagement rate: Interactions divided by impressions, to assess effectiveness.

Profile visits: Number of visits to your social profiles.

Popularity index: Overall assessment of the perception of your content.

Audience Growth

Redirects: Number of clicks to another platform to discover more content.

Profile visits: Number of visits to your social profiles.

Popularity index: Overall assessment of the perception of your content.

Listeners & Save (music)

Video views: Total number of video views to attract audiences to your content.

Thruplay: Number of videos viewed at over 75% (deep engagement).

CPR (Cost per Redirect): Amount spent for each redirect to a streaming platform.

Redirection rate: Percentage of users having clicked on a link to a platform.

Visit: Total number of visits to a Smartlink or linked landing page.

Unique visit: Number of unique users who have visited your site or Smartlink.

Sales & Others

Conversion rate: Percentage of users who have completed the desired action (purchase, listening).

Initiated Check Out: Number of times a user initiates a purchase process.

Purchase Initiated: Users who have added a product to the shopping cart or started an order.

CPC (Cost per Click): Average cost for each click generated.

CPR (Cost per Redirect): Amount spent for each redirect to a streaming platform.

Visit: Total number of visits to a Smartlink or linked landing page.

Unique visit: Number of unique users who have visited your site or Smartlink.

 

 



CRM / Email

 

Opt-in

The process by which a user gives explicit consent to receive communications or advertising, such as a newsletter subscription or a marketing campaign via a form.

 

CSV (Comma-Separated Values)

A simple file format used to store data. This format is often used to import or export data, such as audience lists (e-mails), into marketing tools or advertising platforms.

 

 



Smartlink / Landing Page

 

Presave

A system that allows users to “save” a piece of music before its official release, often used on platforms such as Spotify or Apple Music.

 


Music

 

DSP (Demand Side Platform)

A platform for the automated purchase of advertising space, often used to manage the purchase of advertising on several platforms at once.

 

Artwork

The visual or image used to accompany a campaign or musical content, such as an album cover or promotional visual.

 

Algorithmic playlists

Playlists created automatically by streaming platforms (such as Spotify) based on user preferences and listening behavior.

 



 

Financial

 

Wallet

The digital wallet where credits and payments available to finance an profile's advertising campaigns are stored.

 

Credit

The payment unit used to finance campaigns on Ctrl+Reach, which can be topped up as needed.

 

Refund / Remboursement

The process by which part of a campaign's budget is returned if it is stopped prematurely, often due to a technical problem or poor performance.

 

Payment Request

A payment request sent via a link generated in Ctrl+Reach. It requires the addition of an email address and an amount. Ideal for collecting payment quickly or for collaborations.

 

Transaction

Detailed tracking of all financial transactions linked to your Ctrl+Reach account, including :

  1. Credits: Funds added to your account to finance campaigns.
  2. Withdrawals: Amounts used to pay for campaigns or services.
  3. Refunds: Funds returned to your account if a campaign is stopped prematurely or in the event of a technical problem.
